Our MissionTo be the voice of Filipino-Americans in Newport County.
Fil-Am Newport ProfileEstablished in the 1960's to assist transient Filipino-American sailors assigned to the Navy bases in the Newport, Rhode Island area, Fil-Am Newport emerged to become the center of most Filipino-American cultural and social welfare activities in Newport county and surrounding cities and towns in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fil-Am Newport was formally established on December 30, 1991 as a Rhode Island non-profit corporation with the purpose: "To establish and promote and further effective volunteer programs to aid the sick, disabled, old and the needy; to provide funds for deserving children of members who seek post secondary education; to promote an intellectual relationship among its members and the community; to promote and to conduct education, religious charitable, social and public undertakings, to enrich cultural heritage to understand better the different culture of groups of people and to share the Philippine culture with the community and to achieve the highest standard of moral and unity". Today, Fil-Am Newport is renewing its focus on the purpose of the organization, empowering its members and the Filipino-American community, and serving as the voice of Americans of Filipino descent in the Newport County and surrounding communities.
